American Cancer Society Funds Cancer Programs at Memorial Healthcare System

Through its Community Education Programs to Address Cancer Disparities, the American Cancer Society, Florida Division, granted $20,474 to Memorial Foundation to help fund colon and breast cancer awareness and education programs to more than 500 residents in southern Broward County. 

Using customized presentations featuring physicians from Memorial Cancer Institute, the funded program will focus on the following topics:

1) What is cancer?

2) How common is cancer?

3) What causes cancer?

4) The importance of early detection

5) Breast/colon cancer signs and symptoms

6) How do I reduce my risks?  

This program also will help provide cancer screenings and referrals to South Broward Community Health Centers, operated by Memorial Healthcare System. To call for information about the upcoming educational events, call 954-985-7000.
