"The responses are illuminating. Some of them highlight innovative perks, benefits and incentives, while others reveal how these top companies communicate effectively with their employees and empower every worker to make decisions. We hope these ideas are instructive for other companies that are looking to create a Best Companies-type workplace."

Memorial Healthcare System was recently named one of Florida’s Best Companies To Work For. The fifth annual Best Companies list appears in the August issue of Florida Trend magazine. Memorial Healthcare System has consistently appeared on the list in the five years the ranking has been available, and it is the only healthcare organization included in the Large Companies category this year. One-hundred companies are ranked in small, medium and large employer categories.

While this sustained recognition continues at a time when there is incredible transition in the healthcare industry, it is Memorial’s endless commitment to patient safety, quality and service that has historically set the course for its workforce.

“We are honored to receive this recognition, once again,” said Frank V. Sacco, president and CEO, Memorial Healthcare System. “The fact that we continue to appear among the top 100 Best Companies speaks to the culture of our organization and to each employee who shows dedication and commitment to their work and our patients.”

The Best Companies To Work For In Florida program was created by Florida Trend and Best Companies Group and is endorsed by the HR Florida State Council.

"Our Best Companies coverage this year is simple and direct: We went to the employees of the Best Companies To Work For and asked them to tell us what they like most about working where they work," says Mark Howard, executive editor. "The responses are illuminating. Some of them highlight innovative perks, benefits and incentives, while others reveal how these top companies communicate effectively with their employees and empower every worker to make decisions. We hope these ideas are instructive for other companies that are looking to create a Best Companies-type workplace."

To participate, companies or government entities had to employ at least 15 workers in Florida and have been in operation at least one year. Companies that chose to participate underwent an evaluation of their workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The process also included a survey to measure employee satisfaction. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the registration, survey and analysis and determined the final rankings.

"A happier staff is one that is engaged with the company, its products, and its objectives," says Florida Trend Publisher Andy Corty. "Those are the type of employees who carry the message out to clients and help the company grow. It's our pleasure to recognize those great companies and encourage others to join them in building Florida's competitive advantage."
