Memorial Fitness Zone Opens at T.Y. Park

Collaboration with Memorial Healthcare System provides fitness equipment

A ribbon-cutting ceremony held on December 13, 2013, marked the opening of the Memorial Fitness Zone, located in T.Y. (Topeekeegee Yugnee) Park in Hollywood. In attendance were Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief, Broward County Parks and Recreation Division Director Dan West, and Memorial Healthcare System executives.   



Memorial Healthcare System donated funds for fitness equipment to commemorate its 60th anniversary, supplemented by additional funding from the Broward County Parks and Recreation Division. The fitness zone consists of nearly a dozen pieces of sturdy exercise equipment on concrete pads, including wheelchair-accessible units. The equipment, which was installed directly across from the park office, is designed for ages 14 and up.

WHEN: Memorial Fitness Zone is open daily during the park’s normal operating hours. 



WHO: For ages 14 and up. 



HOW: Free. The park’s regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50/person (children 5 and under free) will also be in effect.
